Cookie Notice
Last updated: August 21, 2026
Cookies are small files stored on your device by a website; local storage and pixels work similarly. This notice explains which technologies graybarnsvt.com uses and how you can control them. Non-essential cookies are only set after you consent.
Strictly necessary
These make the site work and cannot be switched off. They support page delivery, security, load balancing, remembering your cookie choices, and keeping your in-progress booking form state in your browser. They do not track you across sites.
Functional and third-party widgets
- Trustindex review widget — loads verified guest reviews from Airbnb, VRBO, and Google. It may set cookies or local storage to cache review content. It is blocked until you allow functional cookies: until then you see a placeholder with a "Show reviews" button.
- Weather (Open-Meteo) — a direct API request for local conditions. No cookies are set; your IP address is visible to the provider as with any web request.
- Adobe Fonts (Typekit) display typefaces — our headline faces are served by Adobe and load only with functional consent. Our body font is self-hosted on this site, so no font request leaves our servers without your permission.
- Maps and outbound listing links — if you follow a link to a map provider, Airbnb, or VRBO, that site sets its own cookies under its own policy.
Analytics
If analytics are enabled, they measure aggregate traffic — pages viewed, referrers, device type — to help us improve the site. Analytics cookies are non-essential and load only with your consent. We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies, and we do not sell or share cookie data for targeted advertising.
How consent is stored and recorded
Your choice is stored on your device in local storage under the key graybarns_consent_v1. Nothing outside the strictly necessary category runs before you decide, and declining is a single click. We also keep a record of each consent decision — the categories chosen, the time, the page, the consent notice version, your browser user agent, and a one-way hashed (never raw) IP address — so we can demonstrate consent as required by Article 7(1) GDPR. These records are kept for up to 24 months and are never used for marketing or profiling.
If we add a new cookie category, we bump the notice version, which clears your stored choice and asks you again.
Managing your choices
- Use the “Privacy Preferences” link in the footer to accept or decline non-essential cookies at any time — withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and the page reloads so any previously loaded script is dropped.
- Your browser settings let you block or delete cookies for any site; blocking strictly necessary cookies may break parts of the booking form.
- Most browsers offer a 'Do Not Track' or 'Global Privacy Control' signal. We honor Global Privacy Control where our site detects it.
