Accessibility Statement

Gray Barns Properties is committed to making graybarnsvt.com usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or voice control.

Conformance status

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, the standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act and the European Accessibility Act. The site has been tested with automated tooling (axe-core) across every page and currently reports no violations, alongside manual keyboard and screen-reader checks. We consider the site substantially conformant and treat accessibility as ongoing work.

Measures we take

  • Semantic HTML landmarks, a single descriptive H1 per page, and a 'Skip to main content' link.
  • Color contrast meeting AA ratios for text, buttons, and form fields.
  • Full keyboard operability, visible focus styles, and an escapable photo lightbox.
  • Labeled form fields and controls, including the date picker and guest selector, with clear error messaging.
  • Descriptive alternative text on property photography and accessible names on icon-only buttons and social links.
  • Responsive layouts that reflow to 320px and tolerate 200% text zoom.
  • Availability calendars that convey booked and available dates by text and pattern, not color alone.

Known limitations

  • The guest review widget is supplied by Trustindex; we do not control its markup and cannot guarantee its conformance. Reviews are also available on our Airbnb, VRBO, and Google listings.
  • Some third-party maps and outbound listing pages have accessibility characteristics we cannot control.

Physical accessibility of our homes

Website accessibility is separate from the accessibility of the homes themselves. Our properties are historic and rural: features such as stairs, thresholds, gravel drives, and uneven terrain vary by home. Contact us before booking and we will describe a home's access honestly.
